Product Description

Bud Shank, a legendary figure in the world of jazz, invites you to step into a sun-drenched, laid-back world with his 2011 album "Barefoot Adventure." This concise yet captivating collection of tracks blends cool jazz, Brazilian jazz, and bossa nova into a seamless, 30-minute journey that feels like a breezy escape to a tropical paradise.

Recorded under the Trunk Records label, "Barefoot Adventure" opens with the title track, setting the tone for a relaxed yet engaging musical experience. Shank's masterful use of the flute and saxophone weaves through each track, from the playful "Shoeless Beach Meeting" to the rhythmic "Jungle Cruise," creating a soundscape that is both soothing and invigorating.

The album's standout tracks, such as "How High The Makaha" and "Ala Moana," showcase Shank's ability to infuse traditional jazz with the warmth and rhythm of Brazilian music. His virtuosity shines through in "Bruce Is Loose" and the whimsical "Dance Of The Sea Monsters," offering a delightful mix of playfulness and sophistication.

"Barefoot Adventure" is not just an album; it's an experience that captures the essence of a carefree, sun-soaked day. Whether you're a longtime fan of Bud Shank or new to his music, this album offers a refreshing and enjoyable listen that highlights the timeless appeal of jazz and bossa nova.

Impex did an amazing job. The album's sound quality is top-notch, and the tunes are enjoyable, easy to remember, and perfect for those who aren't into jazz or even wives.

  • 2023's Impex Gem

    4 out of 5 stars
    kotcwcaj31 July 2024United States🇺🇸

2023's Impex hidden gem, truly exceptional. Yet another brilliant release. Priced just right, it's a steal. Top-notch in music, audio, and pressing quality—unlike that Getz Gilberto (sound and quality-wise). Strongly recommend!

  • Jazz Gem with Stellar Sound

    5 out of 5 stars
    pv660716 May 2024United States🇺🇸

Music: 5/5 stars. Perhaps overlook that this is the soundtrack to a 1960 surfing documentary. The album shines on its own as a truly amazing jazz piece. I'd characterize the tunes as a bridge between bebop and hardbop—if you're familiar with the Carmel Jones Tone Poet, it's akin to that. Carmel lends his talents here, along with Dave Peacock (who also contributed to the Carmel Jones TP) and Shelly Manne. The entire band is phenomenal, both collectively and as individuals. Most of these musicians aren't exactly famous, but their playing is undeniably top-tier. And the album's replay value is off the charts. I'd recommend giving it a listen on your preferred streaming platform to see if it resonates with you. I'm willing to bet you'll adore it. SQ & pressing: 5/5 stars. This is a fully analog creation, mastered by Kevin Gray. It's a $40 1x33rpm that rivals a $60 2x45 in sound quality. It boasts a delightful warm analog tone, with clarity and soundstage that are simply breathtaking. The mix & EQ (from the original master tape) are nearly flawless. I couldn't ask for better sound quality. The vinyl is eerily quiet, perfectly flat, making it an ideal record to showcase your system or to simply immerse yourself in the music. "You're in the room" might be a bit of a cliché when describing audiophile records, but it genuinely fits here. The best $40 I've spent in ages.
