Product Description

This is a 1991 Reissue Repress released as a LP.

Hüsker Dü's "Flip Your Wig," released on September 1, 1985, under SST Records, is a raw and energetic exploration of punk and post-hardcore. Clocking in at just over 40 minutes, this album is a whirlwind of intense guitar riffs, driving rhythms, and the distinctive vocal style of Grant Hart and Bob Mould. The tracklist, featuring songs like "Flip Your Wig," "Divide And Conquer," and "Don't Know Yet," showcases the band's ability to blend hardcore punk with more melodic and experimental elements. "Flip Your Wig" is a testament to Hüsker Dü's innovative spirit and their significant influence on the punk and alternative rock scenes. The album's chaotic yet cohesive sound makes it a standout release in the band's discography and a must-experience for fans of intense, genre-defying music.

  • SST's Finest Bursting Life

Among the top-tier albums from SST, you could confidently declare "this is their finest work" and you'd be spot on. This album - the band - is so bursting with life that I'm left astonished whenever I go a while without listening to it.

  • September 1985 Release Confirmed

My original copy has two side one labels that look like this: ' )... Just adding that mine's still sealed in the shrink wrap and there's a price tag on it, dated 9/85... I saw someone updated the info here, maybe the release date was September 14th, 1985... so... cool, the records from that record shop all have dates on their price tags... so yeah, it was definitely out in September 1985.

  • Hüsker Dü Re-release Worth It

    3 out of 5 stars

It's crisp and level. It’s SST. It’s a solid re-release. As dynamic as it’s gonna be for a cash-strapped label recording a cash-strapped band. It’s Hüsker Dü! Fair price, better than some worn-out used copy you might end up with. Just grab it!

In my mind, this is the quintessential Hüsker Dü album. The production is finally freed from the oppressively shit sound of Spot, and the songs have a depth and luster that is missing from earlier recordings. "The Baby Song" still irritates the shit out of me after 25+ years, but let it be said that the band had a sense of humor. The album is otherwise packed with maximum impact songs that meld their hardcore beginnings with a sixties aesthetic and an irrepressible melodicism. Highly recommended, if you can believe me. I've heard it said that the sound is lo-fi, but my vinyl copy, while heavy on the treble, sounds clear and rages like a motherfucker.

About Hüsker Dü

Hüsker Dü, the influential American rock band, stormed onto the music scene in 1979, leaving an indelible mark on the punk and post-punk landscape until their hiatus in 1988. Hailing from the Midwest, this trio of musical rebels blended the raw energy of hardcore punk with the melodic sensibilities of post-punk, creating a sound that was as intense as it was innovative. With their explosive live performances and thought-provoking lyrics, Hüsker Dü became a defining voice of their generation, pus... Read more
