The artwork on the cover looks truly terrible on this release, but the vinyl itself is clean, quiet, and offers a pleasant, spacious sound considering it's a live album.
Simone's latest live record, her initial drop with Phillips, showcases her stepping into protest song territory with tracks like "Pirate Jenny", "Old Jim Crow", "Go Limp", and "Mississippi Goddam". It's a decent listen for Simone enthusiasts, but not something you'd go out of your way to find.
Excellent pressing quality that is sadly ruined by subpar recording quality. It sounds as if it was recorded on a personal cassette tape.
The audio quality is fantastic, and it's completely silent—no disturbances at all. There are so many outstanding performances on this album, and as usual, Acoustic Sounds has delivered top-notch packaging and presentation. I might not be fully grasping the historical charm or significance right now, but I do feel that "Go Limp" isn't quite on the same level as the other tracks. I think I could enjoy the forgotten verses and crowd participation more in a documentary or film setting, but on an album, they seem like an unusual choice. That's just my one small issue, though.
