Product Description

This LP was released in 2023.

Dive into the captivating world of RAYE with her latest album, "My 21st Century Blues," released on February 3, 2023, under the independent label Human Re Sources. This 46-minute journey through contemporary life is a testament to RAYE's artistic evolution and her ability to blend raw emotion with infectious melodies.

The album kicks off with the poignant "Introduction," setting the tone for a collection that explores themes of self-discovery, societal pressures, and personal growth. Meanwhile, songs such as "Black Mascara" and "Body Dysmorphia" delve into deeper, more introspective subjects, highlighting RAYE's vulnerability and authenticity.

"Escapism" and "Mary Jane" offer a moment of levity, with their upbeat rhythms and playful lyrics, while "The Thrill Is Gone" and "Ice Cream Man" bring a touch of sultry, retro-inspired charm. Collaborations like "Five Star Hotels" featuring Mahalia add a fresh dynamic to the album, showcasing RAYE's versatility and her ability to seamlessly blend her sound with other artists.

  • Album of the Century

    5 out of 5 stars

Absolutely incredible sounds and visuals! This might just be the album of the century, if you ask me 😏

  • Sound Quality, Dust Issues

    4 out of 5 stars
    Vus_B_Ravx27 October 2025United States🇺🇸

I'd rate it 4 out of 5, the sound quality is fantastic. But, my copy was quite dusty. I cleaned it repeatedly, yet some dust kept sticking to the stylus while playing. Also, why aren't there any lyrics included? I adore the handwriting on the gatefold. But I was hoping for lyrics...

  • Bent Vinyl, Great Sound

    5 out of 5 stars
    moytj.tetfedwc25 September 2025United States🇺🇸

The vinyl I have is a bit bent, but luckily it doesn't mess with the sound quality. It sounds amazing to me. I wasn't aware it was a gatefold, so that was a pleasant surprise. It's a bummer there aren't any lyrics included since Raye is such a talented writer, but you can't win them all. All in all, it's a solid release.

  • Disappointing Sound Quality

    3 out of 5 stars
    Dumvatoyd14 September 2025United States🇺🇸

I'm not as satisfied with the SQ as I'd hoped. There's a noticeable cut in the high end, and some parts lack depth and have distortion. I'm curious if pressing it on two records might have avoided this.

  • 21st Century Blues Thrills

    5 out of 5 stars
    Atgtn.Ibpgg23 August 2025United States🇺🇸

It had been ages since I'd been this thrilled for a new album. I missed the initial release of the first single, but my first spin of "Black Mascara" filled me with a sense of nostalgia while still feeling fresh. That's the vibe of this entire album. The more time I spent with the singles and the more I understood Raye's story, the more eager I became for the full record. You can sense the love poured into it, both in the sound and the artwork. This pressing sounds incredible and bursting with life. I'm eager to see what RAYE does next, but I'll be living in the 21st Century Blues for now.
