  • VMP's Sourced Albums Overpriced

    3 out of 5 stars
    Fvoxronpuji14 December 2025United States🇺🇸

This album sounds fantastic and the tunes are awesome. From what I gather, 'sourced from' isn't the same as 'cut from'. VMP usually notes if an album is AAA or not, and this one's listed as sourced from the original tapes, meaning they either digitize the tape or use an existing digital file. My issue is that VMP seems to be sending out albums that you can just buy cheaper at a local store. Feels a bit slack.

  • Vinyl Snobs Overlook Enjoyable Music

    5 out of 5 stars
    fifmmat6 October 2025United States🇺🇸

I've got to ask, why do some vinyl enthusiasts have to be so snobbish? Sure, this isn't an "audiophile" quality recording, and yes, it was sourced from a digital file, but given how this record was originally captured, it doesn't sound half bad. I picked up my copy used from a local shop in mint condition, and I'm really enjoying it. The performance is fantastic—I can just imagine people gathered around their radios when this first aired, captivated by the music. Maybe some teens even chatted about it the next day with their buddies. I bet plenty of folks were entertained by this broadcast, and some might even remember the experience fondly. To the picky audiophiles out there, let's not forget that Mobile Fidelity tricked you all for years with expensive records sourced from digital files that you all praised without noticing the difference. Can't we just appreciate the music and accept that not everything is perfect, especially when we're talking about recordings from over 60 years ago?

  • Worst Live Album Ever

    4 out of 5 stars
    sairqevxp5 October 2025United States🇺🇸

Out of all my 4000+ albums, this one's the absolute worst in terms of sound quality. Save your money, this live record is a total disaster.

  • VMP Rebranded Vinyl Disappointment

    3 out of 5 stars
    Bwuygillagi1 August 2025United States🇺🇸

Yet another VMP rebranded Atlantic 75 series vinyl, sourced digitally. You can grab these for $5-10 less directly from a record shop, sans the VMP stamp. It's a letdown all around.

  • Ray Charles' Peak Performance

    5 out of 5 stars
    svijsaorm11 April 2025United States🇺🇸

Fantastic capture of Ray Charles at his artistic peak. In this recording, Ray is supported by the wonderful Raylettes and his outstanding backing band. This is a single-microphone recording, made on a portable tape recorder. Yet, the audio quality is truly impressive. Not only is the band fairly audible, but you can also “sense” the warmth and dampness of that summer night in Atlanta. Highly suggest it if you come across a pristine copy. The Right Time is an amazing track!
