Product Description

This is a 1992 Reissue released as a LP.

Black Sabbath's "Vol. 4", released on September 25, 1972, under Sanctuary Records, is a seminal work that solidified the band's status as pioneers of heavy metal and hard rock. This iconic album, now remastered, offers a powerful and immersive listening experience that spans a concise yet impactful 42 minutes. The tracklist features a blend of genres, including stoner rock, doom metal, and classic rock, showcasing Black Sabbath's versatility and innovation.

From the haunting riffs of "Wheels of Confusion" to the bluesy undertones of "Cornucopia," and the psychedelic vibes of "Laguna Sunrise," the album is a testament to the band's ability to push boundaries and explore new sonic territories. The remastered versions of tracks like "Tomorrow's Dream" and "Supernaut" bring a fresh clarity to the original recordings, allowing listeners to appreciate the intricate details of Tony Iommi's guitar work, Geezer Butler's bass lines, Ozzy Osbourne's vocals, and Bill Ward's drumming.

"Vol. 4" is not just a collection of songs but a journey through the evolution of Black Sabbath's sound. The album's opening track, "Wheels of Confusion," sets the tone with its dark, heavy riffs, while "Changes" offers a softer, more melodic contrast. The album's closer, "Under the Sun / Every Day Comes and Goes," leaves listeners with a sense of resolution and introspection.

This album is a must-listen for fans of Black Sabbath and anyone interested in the roots of heavy metal and hard rock. The remastered versions of the tracks ensure that "Vol. 4" remains a relevant and powerful piece of music, even decades after its initial release.

  • Rhino's Decent but Lacking

    3 out of 5 stars
    kitdfifbug8 January 2026United States🇺🇸

Rhino's pressings are typically top-notch. The production is decent - it sounds clear, but the dynamic range doesn't quite match up to the originals from the 70s. It's not terrible, but it's pretty obvious when you listen to them one after the other.

  • Black Sabbath's Triumph

    5 out of 5 stars
    UyjSulxw8 January 2026United States🇺🇸

Black Sabbath's fourth album is an absolute triumph, remastered & pressed to perfection. The louder you blast it, the more incredible it sounds, especially 'Tomorrow's Dream' & 'Under The Sun' which nearly made my house float when I turned it up. It's freakin' amazing...

  • Rhino Edition Sound Quality Wins

    5 out of 5 stars
    wxapicaye0930 December 2025United States🇺🇸

The sound quality is impeccable, I've got no complaints there. The only downside is the non-fill on B3, which is a bit of a nuisance. For those who enjoy shootouts, here's my ranking: Top spot goes to this Rhino edition. Coming in second is the 1972 German Swirl, though it's a tad muddy and doesn't quite match the Rhino's dynamics. Third place is the 1973 U.K. Spaceship, which is a bit too bright for my taste. Lastly, the 2009 Sanctuary edition takes fourth place, as it lacks the dynamics I prefer. I just wish I had an original U.K. copy to compare.

  • Awesome CB Cut Variant

    5 out of 5 stars
    hohzzor12 December 2025United States🇺🇸

ANOTHER awesome CB cut of VOLUME 4, just with a tiny label difference. Check out the other 2011 US variant's page for more thoughts .....

  • Ozzy's Inconsistent Album

    5 out of 5 stars
    Wueuh00143 December 2025United States🇺🇸

This album's pretty solid but often gets overshadowed. The mixing's a bit wonky, though. Some tracks have instruments that are barely there, while others they're all up in your face. Ozzy's vocals are hit or miss too.
