• Improved Volta Vinyl Edition

  I must say, I was genuinely delighted to find that this coloured vinyl version addresses a couple of issues I had with Volta back in '07. First off, the original packaging, though striking, was a bit unwieldy. It had five LP covers that stacked inside a box which opened up in four directions, and the main artwork was a huge sticker that needed to be removed or ruined to access the records. This edition is much neater, with a simple printed sleeve that holds the records more conveniently. Secondly, three tracks have been edited to their single versions, just like the 2008 DMM vinyl from which this is pressed. Notably, Wanderlust and Earth Intruders no longer have that dissonant brass interlude separating them, and Innocence now ends cleanly on its own instead of blending into I See Who You Are before fading out. My only complaint is that the artwork has lost the 'fire' photos of Bjork that were on the back of the original LP covers, even though there was plenty of room for at least one. But these improvements make me want to listen to this album a lot more than I ever did before.

  Since the Homogenic/Debaser In The Dark era, I've drifted away from Bjork's music. After Vespertine and Medulla, I've come to see that I'm no longer captivated by her musical approach, which has become overly eclectic and stylized. Volta continues this trend - her voice remains incredible and skilled as ever, but it's set against a backdrop of peculiar, intricate, and overly intellectual musical landscapes that make this pop music too ambitious and intense, which is a shame. Plus, Antony's overuse is starting to grate on me.

  Oh, this one's a gem! I nearly passed on it because it's not my top Bjork album, but I figured I had to complete my collection since I've got all her other vinyl records. And boy, am I glad I did! The sound quality is fantastic, no weird hissing or anything, and the vinyl itself is stunning. I'm all about the track listing too, ending with "My Juvenile" is just perfect. I kinda wish they'd included more pics from the album and maybe made the sleeve a bit thicker, but all in all, I'm super happy with it!

  I have the black 2lp version, with tplp460dmm etched in the deadwax. It's a 45 rpm pressing. I can't seem to locate mine on Discogs. My copy didn't come with a box and has a different barcode.

  I'm really digging this album on vinyl, it's a bummer they cut down earth intruders. The 2nd disc is like a super bright neon yellow/green highlighter! Gorgeous, but it totally clashes with the cover lol. I'm also a big fan of the Asian harps in this album.
