Whether a review is positive, negative, or neutral, we always publish it. However, we screen every review to ensure it is authentic and free of profanity. These checks happen automatically, though a human occasionally steps in. We never pay for reviews.

This is an incredible jazz band with stunning music. Recorded by Rudy Van Gelder and mastered by Kevin Gray for Blue Note. It couldn't get much better than this.

  • Amazing Sound Experience

    FikyefkSuebpuwlDecember 10, 2025United States🇺🇸

I'd heard great stuff about this album and I genuinely enjoy it when streaming, but it seemed like new copies of this version might become scarce, so I decided to go for it. As I listen while writing this, it's a completely different experience. It's hard to describe, absolutely fantastic, with a big but not overpowering sound, clear and warm. What else is there to say? Amazing.

  • Solid Good Reissue

To all those who commented below, don't be let down by their bad reviews. I've got a new perspective USA pressing here, and it's got no clicks or pops. The sound is rich and clear. It's a solid good reissue.

  • Jazz Fusion Brilliance

    5 out of 5 stars
    FeuhlfJgFafogyqAugust 2, 2025United States🇺🇸

This album has a few elements that I typically steer clear of in jazz. I'm not usually a fan of guitar jazz, and vibes aren't my thing either. But Kenny Burrell and Best are both fantastic here. I could've lived without the vibes, though they do add something to the mix, so it's not like they don't belong. The music reminds me of Ennio Morricone's work, maybe even influenced by him (that might be pushing it). There's a choir of voices, just like Morricone often used, and the instruments have that same orchestral vibe. Byrd really shines on this one.
