Product description

This 2016 Limited Edition Reissue LP is pressed on 180g vinyl.

Muddy Waters' 1969 release, After The Rain, is a masterclass in blues expression, showcasing the legendary artist's ability to craft soulful, heartfelt music. This 38-minute album is a testament to Waters' skill in blending classic blues with elements of blues rock, jazz blues, and soul blues, creating a unique sound that is both deeply personal and universally relatable.

Featuring tracks such as 'I Am The Blues', 'Ramblin' Mind', and 'Hurtin' Soul', After The Rain is a journey through the highs and lows of the human experience, with Waters' powerful vocals and masterful instrumentation guiding the listener through a world of emotional depth and complexity. From the upbeat, energetic rhythms of 'Rollin' And Tumblin'' to the melancholic introspection of 'Blues And Trouble', each song on the album offers a glimpse into Waters' remarkable artistic vision.

  • Muddy Waters' Hidden Gem

    5 out of 5 stars
    LVEGGD-f-JIPJuly 28, 2025United States🇺🇸

Don't sleep on this fantastic Muddy Waters album, it's a hidden gem. Following up "Electric Mud", this record continues that reimagined blues vibe Chess Records was exploring, but it feels more natural and authentic. Sure, it's late in Muddy's career, but this album absolutely slays and it's definitely one of my most played.

  • All-Time Favorite Album Cover

This might just be my all-time favorite album cover. The music is fantastic too! I particularly love the groovy drumming by Morris Jennings here. Absolutely amazing.

  • Wal-Mart Jazz Find Delightful

    5 out of 5 stars
    Wafilair..AkvciuvJune 8, 2025United States🇺🇸

While browsing my neighborhood Wal-mart, I stumbled upon this gem. It seems they'd stocked up their vinyl aisle with a bunch of jazz and blues records, sans any labels. This one, along with another, wasn't even listed in their system. The manager sold it to me as "store stock" for $23. I had no clue it was a clear vinyl version, as there wasn't any hype sticker like the ones shown in the product images (probably because Wal-mart isn't Newbury Comics). The audio quality is amazing! The vinyl is super quiet, and the soundstage is wide and spacious, with Muddy's guitar and vocals crystal clear. The clear vinyl is a sweet extra too. I'm not sure if this is leftover from the Newbury release (only 500 made, I hear) or a repressing, but the runout's identical. Either way, I'm thrilled with my purchase.

  • Wal-Mart Jazz Vinyl Find

    5 out of 5 stars
    Xigoxoat..OxxfuivMay 30, 2025United States🇺🇸

While browsing my neighborhood Wal-mart, I stumbled upon this gem. It seems they'd stocked their vinyl section with a bunch of jazz and blues records, untagged and unlisted in their system. I managed to snag this one, along with another, as "site merchandise" for just $23. I had no clue it was this special clear vinyl version, as there wasn't any hype sticker like in the online pics (probably 'cause Wal-mart ain't no Newbury Comics). But let me tell ya, it sounds incredible! The vinyl is super quiet and the soundstage is wide and warm, with Muddy's guitar and voice crystal clear. And that clear color? Just an extra nice touch. I'm not sure if this is left over from the Newbury release (only 500 made, I hear) or if it's a repress, but the runout's identical. Either way, I'm over the moon about it.

  • Muddy Waters Rocks

Here's an awesome, yet frequently underrated Muddy Waters album. Following "Electric Mud", this record continues that reimagined blues vibe that Chess Records was exploring, but it feels more natural and authentic. Despite being late in Muddy's career, this album really rocks and is a staple in my heavy rotation playlist.
