  • Jazz for Dinner Parties

I'm not usually a fan of Ahmad Jamal's style of jazz. I often find his restrained playing to be quite dull, and it's more what he'd call "American classical" than jazz to me. But this album is actually great for setting the mood at a dinner party, and I'd certainly suggest giving it a listen.

I'm really enjoying this version and the previous 63-64 releases. The vinyl is nicely quiet. Can't wait for volume 3!

  • Ahmad Jamal's Timeless Masterpiece

    5 out of 5 stars

I've fallen head over heels for this album. What a fantastic find, and it's a real pity that it's only now seeing the light of day. Ahmad Jamal stands tall among the greatest piano maestros of all time. He guides us through an intimate voyage with his melodies. This record could've been cut just yesterday, it's that fresh. Pristine yet full of life. My discs are smooth and quiet. Another user mentioned some hiss, but I'm not hearing any, though I do give my records a good wipe before spinning them. The inner sleeves have that PVC vibe, both in look and feel. I'd highly recommend swapping them out for rice paper.

Ahmad Jamal's kind of jazz isn't typically my cup of tea. I've always found his laid-back style a tad dull, leaning more towards what he calls "American classical" rather than jazz. But this album? It's a gem for setting the mood at a dinner party, and I'd highly suggest giving it a listen.

This album has completely captivated me. What a fantastic treasure, and it's such a pity that it's only now seeing the light of day. Ahmad Jamal is truly one of the most extraordinary piano masters of all time. His playing takes us on an intimate journey. The sound quality is impeccable, yet full of life. My records are pristine and quiet. Someone mentioned some noise, but I haven't experienced any, though I always make sure to clean my records before playing them. The inner sleeves have that PVC look and feel. I'd highly recommend switching them out for rice paper.
