I've just played this, the first of the 2014-2015 RSD (and maybe the V1 box?) releases I've gotten to spin. And let me tell you, it's a real "Wow!" moment. I'm really hoping the other two I ordered are just as fantastic. It's bursting with energy, it's got a great dynamic range, and the closeness of the boss's vocals is something I wasn't anticipating at all. Plus, Lopez' drumming really shines here.
Wow, I'm absolutely in love with this first album by The Boss! I'm head over heels for the opening track, 'Blinded by the Light,' both Bruce's version and Manfred Mann's Earth Band's cover, plus the movie with the same title. I'd totally suggest this to any Springsteen enthusiast out there!
Takes care of all the typical Springsteen stuff, yet it's got that extra edge and honesty to truly capture his "everyman" vibe. Especially "Growing up" is just amazing, a real highlight.
Sounds fantastic when it's low but gets a tad hissy when it's loud.
Perhaps the 'Q' in runout is actually a 'G', representing 'Columbia Recording Studios'? So, it's Golumbia Recording Studios then? 😂 This G is just a misread Q. Take a closer look, it's indeed a Q. And that Q is the signature of the person who cut the lacquer. My matrix is exactly like this (with the spaces and dashes "-" etc. :Side 1: 01-65480-1A-1 (at 6 o'clock) Q (at 12 o'clock)Side 2: 01-65480-1B1 (at 1 o'clock) A Q (at 6-7 o'clock)
