  • Ultimate Kind of Blue Vinyl

    5 out of 5 stars
    GuztfhmDecember 25, 2025United States🇺🇸

Without a doubt, this is the ultimate version of Kind of Blue. I'll keep it brief, but essentially, this is likely the final all-analogue release of the album, possibly ever. It utilizes the identical metal work that Chad from Analogue Productions acquired from classic records, along with a bunch of their assets. Why does this matter? Apparently, this was the last time the tape was ever handled and used for a major release, and it was done by Bernie Grundman. This means no one else will be able to produce another major release, as Sony won't allow the tapes to leave their vaults. The clarity vinyl is incredibly quiet; you might notice some noise, but it's at most 1%. The separation, dynamics, resolution, and imaging are all outstanding. Sure, the 45 rpm version might be slightly better, offering more space per side for the grooves to breathe, but if you're a jazz lover or a fan of this album, paying the premium price is definitely worth it. Whether you care about packaging or not, you get a full experience with the box, from the strengthened tip on the jacket to the overall presentation. It's like opening a fine bottle of wine. Do yourself a favor, find either a sealed copy or an open one at a great price, and grab it!

  • Affordable Quality Pressing

    4 out of 5 stars

Alright, so the only other thing I can compare this to is that 33 rpm uhqr, but that's not a fair comparison. What I can tell you is, if you're not looking to spend a fortune but can maybe find a clean-sounding pressing, without spending a fortune, for a somewhat decent original stereo or mono, uhqr or classics record, this isn't a bad buy. I think Colombias from the early 80s were still cut from tape, but I'm not sure if it was from the original tape or a copy. It definitely beats that Sony legacy pressing out there!

  • Soundstage, Minimal Pop

    5 out of 5 stars
    qoxnukrDecember 24, 2025United States🇺🇸

I must say, it sounds absolutely amazing! There's a bit of a pop now and then, but overall, it's incredibly quiet with a gorgeous soundstage.

  • Kind of Blue Masterpiece

    5 out of 5 stars
    FloyrohqayDecember 23, 2025United States🇺🇸

The Analogue Productions "Kind of Blue" "New Normal/Normalized" 2LP edition is absolutely stunning. My copy is flawlessly flat, with barely any surface noise and just a couple of tiny clicks and pops throughout the entire play. The sound quality is outstanding, with incredible clarity and a natural presentation. Each instrument has a fantastic tone, the soundstage is incredibly wide, and there's a real sense of depth—Miles and the horns come forward with presence and punch, while the rhythm section remains solid and dimensional, and Bill Evans' piano has a gorgeous, resonant quality. This is definitely a 5/5 pressing for both audio quality and overall quality.

  • Decent Audio, Unnecessary Extras

    5 out of 5 stars
    vxoemqudxuDecember 20, 2025United States🇺🇸

This version's audio quality is decent. However, I'm puzzled by the inclusion of all those "studio sequences." They're pointless additions that you'd never want to listen to more than once. It's like they're tacked on to something that's already complete. It's just marketing fluff meant to make you believe they're somehow significant. They're not. The extra studio tracks, featuring the same lineup from around the same time, are alright but not as groundbreaking as "Kind of Blue." The live version of "So What" is a nice touch, but the hurried pace doesn't quite suit the song. All in all, this is probably still your best choice for "Kind of Blue" on CD.
