Wow, this sounds amazing! I was a bit hesitant to spend so much on it (over 50 CAD), but I'm thrilled with my purchase. I was expecting a more detailed insert, but at least there's a cool hype sticker. They opted for a full-color sleeve instead of the usual black and white back cover, and there's no tip-on... which, while unique and interesting, tends to wear out and flake over time. The cover is what you'd expect from a reissue nowadays - a decent attempt at the original, though it's a tad over-saturated and slightly blurry. I've listened to a few pressings of this record over the years, and I can honestly say this one deserves a spot in your collection. It's spacious, warm, and clear. I'll play it alongside an original and update my thoughts if necessary. Thanks, Elemental!!
Now, this ain't your typical Beatles cash-in, it's genuinely a fantastic and captivating set of covers blending Beatles tunes with soul-jazz, funk, orchestral, and electronic vibes. Instead of overpowering the original tracks, the arrangements step back and add cool little touches, and when they do step forward, it's not for too long.
This album sounds absolutely amazing. Lewis really shines with the arrangements as well. It's such an enjoyable and top-notch listen. Definitely worth checking out.
First Japanese pressing! Absolutely stunning sound quality! Ramsey Lewis in his absolute prime. This album is a genuine masterpiece. Charles Stepney's arrangements are simply outstanding. Every track is penned by Lennon & McCartney. It's that good! I strongly suggest picking up this pressing, it's packed with details and boasts an incredible dynamic range.
This is an awesome pressing. Huge soundstage and solid bass. Really funky tracks. So funny album cover. Highly recommended!
