Gorgeous vinyl record. The sound levels are flawless all the way through, it's quite thick (155 grams), has a lovely label design, and comes with that classic fold-out cover. A definite must-have for any music collection.
This pressing has a touch of subtle surface noise, but it's otherwise fantastic. The sound is clear and bright, making the music leap off the disc. Naturally, this brings out the charming, off-the-cuff playing and relaxed timing of this wonderfully unpolished band. Whether you're an audiophile or not, the album and its tracks absolutely deserve a spot among the very best.
Sadly, this particular pressing has a noticeable tick during 'The Weight'. I've gone through 3 copies now, and each one has the same tick in the exact same spot.
People weren't wrong about the US first pressing lacking bass. It's got a nice, quiet sound and great high-end detail, but the overall presentation is too tame and rolled off for my liking. I'll be on the lookout for the first UK pressing or the 45 RPM reissue.
I'm not getting what everyone's raving about. The copy I've got is just about flawless, as good as it gets. The sound is right on the money, the vinyl is super smooth, and those run-in grooves are whisper quiet. No hissing or warping here, and the labels are dead center for a top-notch listen. Guess I struck gold or something...
