  • Disco mediocre, sonido moderno

Un disco que se puede pasar por alto. Canciones débiles, sin nada destacable. El sonido es moderno, como el de un buen CD.

  • White Vinyl Indie Exclusive

    5 out of 5 stars
    DahqumNovember 8, 2024United States🇺🇸

I picked up a double LP gatefold version on white vinyl from Juno that doesn't appear to be on Discogs yet. It's labeled as an "indie exclusive," but I'm not sure what that entails. It's a Blue Note pressing. Has anyone come across this before?

  • Lively Modern Jazz Album

    4 out of 5 stars
    ddunabpojeypolAugust 5, 2024United States🇺🇸

This album is incredibly lively and has a crisp sound. Being a modern recording, it lacks that classic "analog" warmth (like the space around instruments could be more pronounced), but keep in mind, this is only noticeable if you're comparing it to an old-school jazz vinyl right after. It's a Made In Canada (GZ owned Precision Pressing) pressing. The records have a fair bit of surface noise. Not like popcorn popping loud, but enough to be a bit distracting during the quieter parts.

  • Breathtaking but Flawed LP

    5 out of 5 stars
    vedgapogobMarch 7, 2024United States🇺🇸

This LP is absolutely breathtaking, though there are a few too many skips in the grooves for my liking. The sound quality is phenomenal, with so many intricate conversations woven into each track. It's truly an extraordinary album.

  • Omission: Flawless Sound, Flawed Pressing

    4 out of 5 stars

I can't recall many albums, across any genre, that I anticipated more than the successor to View with a Room, which was my top pick of 2022. Now that Lage's next release is here, it's safe to say it's a powerful statement. He has an uncanny ability to draw me close to the core of genuine music. I won't bother going on about his obvious significance. Let's talk about the pressing? The mastering is flawless, a perfect 10/10. I was eager to see how Omission would translate to vinyl after streaming it endlessly, and it's just as impressive. It's got that perfect crunch and warmth, with a vast dynamic range. Now, the pressing? I'd rate it around 5.5/10. It's a bit tricky to evaluate because at lower volumes, you might not notice any issues, and most would probably think it sounds fine. But at high volumes, there's a noticeable scratchiness that's a bit distracting during quieter parts. In an album with this much subtlety and live feel, those softer sections need to shine, and I don't want anything diverting my attention from the performances. There were a few moments where my immersion was broken due to surface noise. The packaging is top-notch, with lined inner sleeves, so not much to complain about. I didn't expect the color to be as translucent as it turned out, but it's a nice final product. That said, I might look for a black press soon if the reviews about its quality are good. I can't imagine the color variant helps with that. All in all, I'm pleased with my copy despite its flaws. In terms of sound quality, it meets and exceeds all my expectations. I could rave about the music all day, but if you're reading this, you probably already know. OH! And if you haven't caught this guy live, do it. Just go, you won't regret it. It's one of the most raw and intense displays of musical skill and emotion I've ever witnessed at a concert. The guy's got his finger on the pulse of music.
