Yet another fantastic release from "The Impulse! Reissue Series". Quite a few of the 96-97 editions are top-notch pressings. Personally, I think this one even surpasses the original. It sounds incredibly natural and spacious. Mastered as loud as you could from the original performance recording. Definitely worth seeking out.
The audio quality is fantastic and the surface is quite smooth. The jacket is made of uncoated matte paper, giving it a neat, homemade vibe. On my copy, the glue didn't hold perfectly at the bottom, leaving a tiny opening in the seam. There are a few marks from black PVC that ended up in the wax, but honestly, neither issue bothers me much.
This South African release brings me to happy tears.
The sound on this thick vinyl reissue is absolutely gorgeous. Just breathtaking.
Bought it at Verve Center Store; the copy came in great condition. Pretty solid deal for a budget-friendly release. I hadn't listened to it prior (apart from sampling before purchasing) and holy cow! It's a full-length jam sesh. Insane, non-stop beats, horns, piano, and more, all swirling around... just incredible! Keeps up that wild energy the whole way through... it's like a free jazz spiritual journey, like a rave. P.S.: The sound quality is true to the recording era, but still sounds awesome! Nothing to complain about.
