This here's the 2022 remastered/re-released version of https://www.discogs.com/master/100781-War-Deliver-The-Word, mind you. It ain't no new drop.
Gorgeous, warm-sounding album, at least this original US pressing from 1973. INSANE how supply and demand dictate prices on used records. This is one of my favorite records in my collection, and I grabbed it in NM/VG+ condition for just 7€ at my local store in Spain. How can an original Parliament/Funkadelic album go for around 80€, while WAR originals are around 10€? No disrespect to Funkadelic, but WAR aren't 8 times less valuable than them. Maybe it'll change again over time, like fashions? I'll keep an eye out.
War w pełni rozkręcony. Funk zrośnięty z duszą, oddechem R&B i delikatnym psychodelicznym akcentem. Płyta ma dwa oblicza: po jednej stronie rytmiczny groove („Me and Baby Brother”), po drugiej zamyślne, rozciągnięte kompozycje jak sam tytułowy „Deliver the Word”. Słychać tu zespół, który potrafi grać zarówno dla tańczących, jak i dla tych, którzy lubią się zastanawiać. Produkcja ciepła, otwarta, z tym charakterystycznym dla War swobodnym brzmieniem.
