I found this edition at a vinyl fair. Although the artwork leaves much to be desired—it has no information, no lyrics, no insert, no credits, and it's quite old (1980)—the audio isn't that bad; it's listenable.
Poor quality on a couple of tracks and a generally underwhelming version of a great record.
This remastered version from 2002 is great. Best version of the lp available in my opinion. Even beats the original US vinyl I have easily. Highly recommend if you can find one. Would love a vinyl release of this mix.
It has a little bit of distortion, but sounds good.
It's only 50 years (!) since I first looked at the album cover and I've only JUST learned what it's 'saying' AND that it was Lennon's own handiwork.I knowwwww you've heard it before....but yep, the first track is obviously quintessential Lennon. The rest is enough to pass the time. All written within one week, apparently. As usual though, unless you're not a Beatles fan or not interested in the man behind the music, it still holds your attention to the end because of its personality and where John Lennon was in his life, his marriage and his outlook.Despite his troubles, the album somehow feels upbeat and depicting the 'nice' John.Not his worst nor not his best. Yet, a keeper, as it's part of the greatest story ever told.
