  • New Version Fantastic

After giving this new version a spin twice, I must say it's absolutely fantastic. It's like my all-time favorite Muse record has finally been given the quality it's always deserved.

Well done. Great remaster. The first release was overly bright. Perhaps their best album ever.

  • Remix: Better but Flawed

    3 out of 5 stars
    gijislcutxaf19 November 2025United States🇺🇸

Normally, I don't mind poorly mixed albums, but "Out of Style" was so badly mixed that I hesitated to buy it on vinyl. When this remix was announced, I enjoyed the initial listen on Spotify, so I decided to purchase the vinyl and focus on the mixing during my first spin. Let me tell you, it's a significant improvement over the original mix (which, I recall, was done in just two weeks), but the entire album is crushed with an excessive amount of compression. I can't wrap my head around who thought it was a good idea to squash this album to death. The soundstage is indeed wider, and Matt's guitar fuzz growls like a beast, giving the album the much-needed upgrade to meet 2020s standards. However, there's something off with the hi-hats and vocals. The hi-hats, in particular, have this weird hiss that really distracts me from the other instruments and just annoys me. So, to sum up, there are some pros and cons to this record. It's not a perfect remix by any means, but I'd still choose it over the original any day. It's the better of two evils.

  • Muddy Muse Mix

    3 out of 5 stars
    EblxaGsamquha4316 November 2025United States🇺🇸

I just took it for a ride. Solid pressing, but not earth-shattering. My copy's flat with zero surface noise. Vocals are rich, clear, and loud. The new mix reveals many new instruments. But overall, the sound's like muddy water? Hard to describe... Not detailed at all, especially on the heavy guitar tracks... Like a flat sound? (just the guitars, I'd say) Sometimes it's like a mono mix, poor stereo imaging? I guess it's okay for Muse fans with average setups, but a disaster for audiophiles!

  • Dull Sound, Hiss, Overrun

    3 out of 5 stars
    OP8G15 November 2025United States🇺🇸

Fairly middle of the road, I reckon. The sound comes across as quite dull (unlike the records which have a minor warp), and it struggles with dynamics. Quite a bit of hiss as well. And I'm not sure how this happened, but this is the first time a record has gone beyond the dead wax at the end of side D3, and the needle ended up on the label.
