Chet and his band put on a truly fantastic show, arguably one of his finest live performances from his last year(s), even surpassing that supposed final masterpiece on Enja. The vinyl sounds incredibly clean and smooth, absolutely lovely.
Incredible live record! The drums are captured so clearly, they might just scare you at moments haha. Who's to say how long this will remain available, so it'd be smart to grab it sooner rather than later!
Among my top picks for Chet's live shows (the remaining portion is on "Memories" and the whole set's compiled on the "In Tokyo" CD). The sound quality is flawless -- even surpassing some studio albums -- and his backing band's performance is outstanding. This is Chet at his finest in his later years. The songs cover a wide range, showcasing all aspects of the cool style Chet's renowned for: from lively, west-coast-inspired tunes to those deeply moving tracks that, in my view, Chet excels at more than anyone. These pieces will tug at your heartstrings. Chet's trumpet truly shines in "Arborway." This new pressing is VERY impressive. Not a hint of noise that I can detect. Completely silent. Overjoyed to finally have this LP in my collection.
