This version is a significant improvement over the 2023 repress (https://www.discogs.com/release/27654207-Sufjan-Stevens-The-Age-Of-Adz). There's way less surface noise, and the sound is much richer.
I recently acquired this particular pressing. It's not the loudest record in my collection, but the quieter tracks like "Futile Devices" and "Vesuvius" have quite a bit of noticeable surface noise. This is after giving it a couple of spin-cleans. And to be truthful, the mastering doesn't seem all that great either.
The audio quality is fantastic, no interruptions or jumps, even during the softer sections.
Oh man, my copy is sounding really awful, there's like non-stop loud surface noise that wouldn't go away even after I cleaned it properly. I'm requesting a replacement but it seems like a pressing issue so I'm not really optimistic.
Sounds amazing for the first three sides, but side D is super noisy all the way through. Update: Got a fresh copy straight from the label, plays perfectly now.
