Great album, really enjoying it. Depeche chose to do something distinct from their debut, and I believe they nailed it. The sound quality is top-notch too.
I'm pretty sure this is the 2020 version. I picked it up on Amazon (US) towards the end of 2020, so if you're looking to complete your collection, I'd suggest grabbing it from there and it'll probably be this exact pressing.
ABF is hands down my top pick for an album. It's packed with amazing tracks and killer synth sounds. The Sun @ The Rainfall is right up there with their finest closing tunes, alongside New Dress and Insight. The 5.1 on SACD and DTS 96/24 on DVD both deliver an incredible audio experience. Definitely worth a listen!
Regrettably, I must concur with the remarks about inner groove distortion and sibilance on the final tracks of each side (barely perceptible on the original pressing!). It's the sole imperfection on an otherwise superb pressing.
For over three decades, Depeche Mode has been among my top favorite bands, and these 2016 reissues under the Legacy series are no exception! The album sounds incredible - powerful and precise. The soundstage is expansive, and the balance is impeccable. The outer sleeve is flawlessly crafted, with top-notch printing and paper quality. The inner sleeve, though lacking antistatic, is also of superb quality. The disc itself is heavy and perfectly flat, with a silent surface—I detected no clicks whatsoever. Overall, the cover, disc, and content are a perfect 5 out of 5. Highly recommended. P.S.
