Such a bummer regarding us, Run Run Run still sounds all messed up.
Hands down, this is the finest sounding original pressing of this album I've come across from US facilities. Though it's not mentioned here, I'm pretty sure this was likely handled by the Indianapolis plant, and it blows the Gloversville and Pinckneyville plants out of the water in terms of sound quality.
Man, this record was on fire back then. It sounds fantastic with a mono stylus. I'm a big fan of the stereo version of this album, but mono is how it was meant to be heard, and this original UK pressing is an absolute delight to spin.
Upon listening to this re-release of A QUICK ONE, I must say it's the best I've heard these tracks in a while, especially that grand finale. The stereo mix is top-notch (bar one track) and the soundstage is crisp, bright, and full of life. My copy's flawless, the vinyl's perfectly flat, spotless, and hushed with no detectable surface noise.
The vinyl has a slight warp, but it doesn't mess with the playback. The audio quality is fantastic, though the original recording wasn't top-notch, so don't anticipate an earth-shattering experience. That said, this is the finest I've encountered for this album.
