  • Better Sound, Clearer Mids

    5 out of 5 stars
    tasjanrNovember 16, 2025United States🇺🇸

This LP is much better, it's quieter and the sound is more balanced. The highs are smoother and less harsh than my old copy, which can be a bit too sharp when turned up. The bass is more noticeable and the mids are clearer, with better separation and less clutter. It sounds great, I'm definitely keeping this one and putting away my original.

  • Big Generator's Passionate Journey

    4 out of 5 stars
    dijiirmoiqOctober 28, 2025United States🇺🇸

Upon my initial encounter with this album, I anticipated a bumpy journey. Instead, I found an album that's a bit over the top, yet brimming with passion, featuring standout performances from Anderson, Kaye, and Rabin. The rhythm section does get a tad overshadowed, but let's face it, the late 80s weren't exactly a golden age for drummers and bassists, and Yes was no exception. It might've been a tough pill to swallow for classic Yes fans, especially after the commercial push of 90125, but taken on its own, Big Generator delivers.

  • Masterpiece Marred by Mastering

    4 out of 5 stars
    xgazapvipSeptember 1, 2025United Kingdom🇬🇧

This album is absolutely breathtaking, boasting phenomenal arrangements and top-notch musicianship from start to finish. The only downside is the mastering, which oddly suffocates the recording, stripping it of its dynamics and punch (you can sense they're present in the performances!). It's begging for a Steven Wilson touch, if only the original stems were available for him to work his magic! Apart from that, there are tracks here that can stand toe-to-toe with anything else out there for sheer elegance and intricate detail... particularly during 'Shoot High Aim Low' (there's a passage where I could've sworn Alex Lifeson was laying down those licks!), 'Love Will Find A Way' (sooo Beatles-esque!) and the title track. For me, this one tops 90125.

  • Hiss in Vocals, Love LP

    4 out of 5 stars
    xommxdeockezMay 4, 2025United States🇺🇸

Had it not been for the hiss in Jon Anderson's voice, this would've been a 11 out of 10. Excellent pressing. Vocals can be a tad too sharp sometimes. But I'm still in love with this LP. Grab it!

  • Rabin's Gem Shines Bright

    3 out of 5 stars
    yucaeqtegzqibFebruary 20, 2025United States🇺🇸

Here's another album featuring Trevor Rabin, and I must say, I'm really digging it more than their huge hit 90125! Jon Anderson's vocal arrangements on this one are absolutely fantastic! 7.5/10
