This album is an absolute masterpiece in every way. As Roberta's debut session, she delivers an outstanding performance, showcasing not only her stunning voice but also her impressive piano skills. Her rendition of Gene McDaniel's "Compared to What" is an ideal match for her vocal range. This song has been covered by numerous artists, and Roberta's version truly shines among the best. And let's not forget "The First Time Ever......." which became a major hit for her and is exquisitely beautiful. This record is a must-have for any collection, especially if you're a fan of soul music from the 70s. The sound quality can be a bit harsh at times, but it's nothing to worry about. The record is perfectly flat, with no noticeable IGD. The mix places Roberta's vocals and piano prominently, which is typical for records from this era. A definite must-have!
For more than three decades, I've been longing to get my hands on this album, ever since I laid eyes on that captivating cover art in an advert sleeve. Roberta Flack's expression was so deeply engrossed in the music. I must say, I'm utterly thrilled with it; a truly phenomenal performance from someone so young.

Seriously underappreciated album! The Atlantic version still sounds crisp and clear after all these years.
