Am I the only one noticing that the sound is a bit low and unclear?
After Swans have dropped numerous albums since this one, I still reckon it's the top pick among their comeback records. Here's why: it's concise and to the point. Less self-absorbed, you know? I've given Leaving Meaning a single listen and didn't feel the need to go back. It's a tad dull, if we're being truthful. 'My Father Will Guide You' though, that's a proper Swans album. The Seer had its highlights, but it overstayed its welcome. Things take a turn for the worse with To Be Kind, The Glowing Man, and the least impressive of all - Leaving Meaning. These albums might be therapeutic for Michael Gira, but musically, they're lacking.
For years, I've been rocking this album on CD (RIP), but spinning it on vinyl is a whole new ball game. The pressing is top-notch, and the sound quality is off the charts. I could swear I felt Pravdica's bass vibrating from the floor below! Another YGR victory.
