Charles Lloyd
Charles Lloyd is a legendary American jazz musician and composer, renowned for his mastery of the tenor saxophone and flute, as well as his occasional forays into piano, tárogató, and percussion. Born in 1938, Lloyd has been a towering figure in the jazz world for over six decades, known for his free-spirited musical vision and his ability to blend jazz with folk, rock, and other genres. He is the last surviving member of an inspired generation of American saxophonists from the 1950s, and his music continues to evolve and inspire, reflecting a lifetime of experience. Lloyd's accolades include the title of NEA Jazz Master, Chevalier des Arts et Lettres, and induction into the Memphis Music Hall of Fame. He holds honorary doctorates from Berklee College of Music and CalArts, and at 87 years old, he continues to create incredible music from his home in Santa Barbara, California.
