Jerry Granelli
Jerry Granelli was an American-born Canadian jazz drummer, percussionist, composer, and bandleader, renowned for his lyrical and fluid approach to music. Born on December 30, 1940, in San Francisco, California, Granelli's musical journey began under the influence of his swinging drummer father, Jack. He gained widespread recognition for his work with the Vince Guaraldi Trio, notably on the beloved Charlie Brown soundtracks, where his drumming on "Linus and Lucy" became iconic. Granelli's power and sensitivity, both at and away from the drum kit, made him a treasured figure among musicians. Beyond his performances, he was a pioneering educator, leaving an indelible mark at Naropa University through his passion for improvisation. Granelli's ability to transcend genres and styles showcased his versatility and deep musicality. He passed away on July 20, 2021, in Halifax, Nova Scotia, leaving behind a legacy that continues to inspire.
