Product Description

This is a 2024 Reissue Repress released as a LP.

Fresh Cream, the debut album by the legendary British power trio Cream, is a groundbreaking blend of classic rock, psychedelic rock, acid rock, and blues rock that captures the raw energy and virtuosity of Eric Clapton, Jack Bruce, and Ginger Baker. Released on December 9, 1966, under Polydor Records, this 40-minute masterpiece showcases the band's exceptional musicianship and innovative approach to rock music.

The album opens with the iconic "I Feel Free," a psychedelic rock anthem that sets the tone for the rest of the record. Tracks like "Sleepy Time Time" and "Dreaming" delve into dreamy, psychedelic territories, while "Sweet Wine" and "Toad" showcase the band's bluesy roots and improvisational skills. The album also features standout covers like "Spoonful" and "Rollin' And Tumblin'," which Cream infuses with their unique sound and style.

Fresh Cream is a testament to the band's ability to blend various musical influences into a cohesive and electrifying whole. The album's dynamic range, from the delicate to the explosive, highlights the individual talents of each member and their collective chemistry. This debut album is a must-listen for any fan of rock music, offering a glimpse into the early days of one of the most influential bands of the 1960s.

  • Fresh Cream: Pioneering Power Trio

    4 out of 5 stars
    Ovuw_E9 January 2026United States🇺🇸

Here's one of those 1960s rock records that hints at what the genre would evolve into during the 1970s. A fantastic first album from Cream, marking the beginning of the "power trio". Maybe not as innovative as some other British rock music from 1966, but Cream's knack for taking American blues and cranking up the volume was their specialty. They also managed to stretch out into solid classic rock territory with songs like Sleepy Time Time and Dreaming. "Toad" showcased Ginger Baker bringing the jazz drummer's tradition of the drum solo into the rock scene. Some parts might feel a bit scattered, but overall "Fresh Cream" delivered some crucial tracks. This early 1980s(?) re-release doesn't boast the best audio quality and sports one of the worst re-issue covers for such a pivotal album. It's alright, but there are definitely better re-masters out there that also include the two bonus tracks featured here.

  • UK Mono Mix Triumphs

    5 out of 5 stars
    iygolanyom7 January 2026United States🇺🇸

The UK mono version on A2/B1 sounds absolutely incredible. It's got a crazy amount of bass compared to the small stereo mix. This album is just like Sgt. Pepper, where the mono mix is a must.

  • Vinyl Color Doesn't Matter

    5 out of 5 stars

Is it worth making another version of this album just because of the vinyl's color? Mine is black, but it's identical otherwise.

  • Version Comparison: Japanese Editions

How does this Version stack up against the other Japanese Editions or initial Pressings?

  • Avoid Original Stereo Mix

This one's got that dreadful original 'stereo' mix. Steer clear!
