Incredible sound quality! A total must-have for any Green Day enthusiast (who, for some reason, still doesn't own this album in any format...)
Mine arrived a bit bent, but not enough to cause any skipping. Overall, I'd give it a 4 out of 5.
Disc one had a minor warp which made my AT-LP70X skip during "Holiday", but when I took it to the record shop and tried it on a higher-quality turntable, there were no skips. The staff there also noticed a separate defect in "Holiday" aside from the skipping. Disc two was flatter but still had a tiny warp; however, it played fine.
Alright, so the warping's gotta be a pressing fault, cause mine's warped too (Disc 1). But hey, no skips here! Overall, both discs and all four sides sound fantastic. As a collector, I've kinda accepted that not every record's gonna be flawless, so the warping ain't a huge deal for me..unless it's super duper bad. I've never owned this amazing album before, that's why I picked it up. But if you already have a copy, just stick with that one or hunt for an earlier pressing.
This edition is truly outstanding, surpassing any other version of the album I've encountered. The vocal and, notably, the instrumental clarity are exceptional. Some purists might argue with the latter point, as I did observe that the guitar compression was significantly reduced for this release, but in my opinion, this enhancement improves the overall presentation. Moreover, the soundstage is vastly more expansive and dynamic than any digital version I've heard, bringing out subtle details with unprecedented clarity. As for the pressing itself, it's a masterclass by RTI. I've said it before, and I'll say it again: RTI IS THE TOP PRESSING PLANT IN THE WORLD! Both discs were perfectly flat and played with astonishingly quiet, pitch-black backgrounds. Everything about these LPs looked flawless. It's a breath of fresh air to see a plant that consistently delivers, especially for high-end, expensive releases like this one. The packaging is a bit of a mixed bag for me with these one steps. To be honest, I'm not a fan of the cardboard sleeves that hold the traditional gatefold jackets. Don't get me wrong, it's a high-quality sleeve, but it's unnecessary and doesn't enhance the product. It's just another thing to deal with when handling and playing my discs, which I find irritating. That said, the gatefold itself is stunning, and I would have been content to display it on my shelf without the extra bulk of the cover sleeve. But that's just my preference. Overall, I think this is an outstanding release from Because Sound Matters, and I hope they maintain this excellent standard of quality in the future.
