Excellent re-release! The bass guitar's sound is as fantastic as the player's skill.
The sound's alright, but it feels a bit flat. It's not as clear as the digital one. The high end's a bit harsh, even a tad distorted (maybe it's the record pressing). And no gatefold with those silly inner sleeves doesn't help either.
In my music-enthusiast view, this has to be the greatest Stones record so far. It might even rank among the most outstanding rock albums ever put out there. I wasn't there when the guys shot to fame, became superstars, and reached legendary status back in the sixties, and while I definitely reckon that era was a peak in their career, I believe what you can hear on Bridges is the amazing outcome of over 140 combined years of music-making expertise among the four bandmates, plus an even longer stretch of combined life experience of over two centuries, and that's what makes it the ultimate and most refined rock album ever. This is as Rock as it gets!
I picked up my copy from a nearby store. The flat wax is flawless and the sound quality is incredible. Plus, it's the sole US vinyl pressing, so unless you're willing to shell out 3-5 times more for an original, this one's a great choice in my opinion.
