  • Blur's Vinyl Misses Mark

    4 out of 5 stars
    Karolina JanssenDecember 3, 2025United States🇺🇸

Yet another fantastic album from Blur. The vinyl, being digitally sourced, is quite noticeable. It has a somewhat distant and flat sound, with the instruments and vocals struggling to stand out from one another. I'm not sure about the dynamic range, but it can't be impressive. On the plus side, the vinyl itself is a stunning turquoise color and the pressing is super quiet, with no distracting crackles or pops. If only the mixing was done from analog or at least remastered better for vinyl, this would have been a home run.

  • GZ Media Should Learn From Optimal

    5 out of 5 stars
    Philippe ErikssonNovember 16, 2025

This record version is fantastic. I'd go as far as to say it's among the best sounding in my collection, and it's way more budget-friendly than the original release. I don't have an original to compare it with, but I can't picture there being a massive difference since this one sounds absolutely fantastic. The album isn't my top pick by Blur, but there are a couple of tracks I quite enjoy. I'd definitely recommend this version, as you can snag it for a great price and get a record that sounds amazing. Plus, my copy has literally NO surface noise, which is super rare when buying new LPs. If only every record sounded this good. GZ Media should really take some tips from Optimal Media, the plant that pressed this one.

  • Loud & Perfect Vinyl

    5 out of 5 stars
    Wayne DuboisOctober 3, 2025United States🇺🇸

Fantastic sounding record, mastered & pressed to perfection with vinyl that's completely silent. Don't hesitate to turn it up, as it genuinely sounds even better when played loud.

  • Sing's Heartfelt Highlights

    5 out of 5 stars
    Nora JimenezAugust 25, 2025United States🇺🇸

This version is fantastic - the highs are so clear, bass is punchy and well-defined, separation is excellent. It's a truly great collection of tracks. But for me, Sing is the highlight and is worth buying just for that song. It really tugs at my heartstrings. Amazing.

  • Blur's Charming Time Capsule

    5 out of 5 stars
    Corey MarieJune 23, 2025United States🇺🇸

This isn't Blur's finest work — but wow, what a time capsule! Baggy beats, shoegaze layers, and early Britpop whispers — it's a delightful mess, full of innocence and charm. You can sense a band still finding their footing, and that gives it a unique kind of allure. “There’s No Other Way” and “Sing” are sheer brilliance, and even the lesser-known tracks have this unpolished, dreamy quality that's impossible to ignore. This UK first pressing sounds fantastic — warm, punchy, and surprisingly open for an early '90s record. The bass has heft, guitars fit perfectly in the mix, and the vocals shine through without getting lost. A must-own if you're into early Blur or that whole era of relaxed, scruffy-haired indie oddity!

Product description

This 2021 Reissue Remastered LP is pressed on 180g vinyl.

"Leisure," the debut album from British band Blur, released in 1991, is a vibrant and eclectic blend of Britpop, Madchester, and alternative rock that captures the spirit of the early '90s UK music scene. This 2012 remastered edition offers fans and new listeners alike a chance to experience the album in its finest form, with crisp, clear sound and a tracklist that includes both original cuts and extended mixes.

Blur, fronted by the distinctive vocals of Damon Albarn, delivers a collection of songs that range from the energetic and anthemic ("She's So High," "Bang") to the introspective and melodic ("Slow Down," "Sing"). The album showcases the band's early sound, characterized by jangly guitars, catchy hooks, and Albarn's witty, often self-deprecating lyrics. Tracks like "There's No Other Way" and "Sing" hint at the massive success that would follow for Blur, while deeper cuts like "Repetition" and "Fool" reveal the band's knack for crafting memorable, offbeat tunes.

The extended mixes and live versions included in this remaster offer a glimpse into Blur's versatility and ability to reinvent their songs. The Blur remix of "There's No Other Way" and the extended version of "Bang" are standout tracks that showcase the band's experimental side. Additionally, demo versions like "I Love Her" provide a fascinating look at the creative process behind the album.

With a runtime of nearly two hours, "Leisure" is a comprehensive journey through Blur's early career, highlighting their evolution and growth as musicians. The album's blend of genres and styles makes it a timeless addition to any music collection, offering something for everyone, from casual listeners to dedicated fans. Whether you're discovering Blur for the first time or revisiting their early work, "Leisure" is an essential album that captures the raw energy and creativity of one of Britain's most beloved bands.
