Product description

This 2024 Limited Edition Reissue Remastered 50th Anniversary LP is pressed on Clear vinyl.

Dive into the heart of classic rock with The Doobie Brothers' fourth studio album, "What Were Once Vices Are Now Habits," released on February 1, 1974, under Warner Records. This timeless collection of tracks seamlessly blends elements of rock, soul, folk, and blues, showcasing the band's signature honeyed vocals, boisterous dual drumming, and riffy guitars. The album features a diverse range of songs, including Tom Johnston's introspective "Another Park, Another Sunday" and bassist Tiran Porter's psychedelic "Flying Cloud." With a clean, clear, and precise sound engineered by Donn Landee, this album captures the essence of 1970s American soft rock. Produced by Ted Templeman, who also worked with Van Halen, "What Were Once Vices Are Now Habits" is a testament to The Doobie Brothers' early-era prowess, making it a standout release in their discography. The album's 12 tracks, spanning 44 minutes, offer a rich tapestry of musical styles that have stood the test of time, appealing to both longtime fans and new listeners alike.

  • Promo Copy Sounds Best

    5 out of 5 stars
    pokpxoxevrcMay 19, 2025United States🇺🇸

It's a real shame that the sound engineers seemed to have dozed off while mastering this album's other versions. The audio quality of the regular copies is quite murky. I eventually stumbled upon a Promotional copy, which is way better than the standard ones.

  • Bellman Doobie Reissues Delight

Don't just take my word for it, these Bellman cut Doobie reissues are absolutely fantastic. What a pure delight to have a listen.

  • Muddy Audio, Skip Regular

    4 out of 5 stars
    pajqfifulzdJanuary 24, 2025United States🇺🇸

It's a real shame that the sound engineers seemed asleep during this album's mastering. The audio quality is quite muddled. Save your money on the regular copies. Instead, go for the Promo or the 180 gram version, and you'll be way more satisfied.

  • Rhino HiFi Delivers Fantastic Sound

    5 out of 5 stars
    suwmscmJanuary 21, 2025United States🇺🇸

I'm on the same page as the other folks here, it's awesome. I was kinda hoping Rhino HiFi would go with the Kevin Gray approach, but didn't wanna hold out any more. Gave it a shot and it's fantastic.
