  • Talking Heads Must-Have

    5 out of 5 stars
    Virginia DonnellyOctober 4, 2025United States🇺🇸

An awesome pressing of an amazing show. If you’re into Talking Heads or Byrne, this is a must-have!

  • Live Energy Captured

    5 out of 5 stars
    Vincent GustafssonAugust 19, 2025United States🇺🇸

I had the chance to see the live performance, and it was absolutely incredible. This record does a great job of bringing back the energy of the show, but it can't quite match the magic of being there in person. That said, I'm really loving this pressing – the quality is top-notch, and I'm thrilled to have it in my collection...it's just a masterpiece!

  • Orlando Show Amazing

    5 out of 5 stars
    Simone PrietoJuly 29, 2025United States🇺🇸

Wow, this record sounds incredible... Don't miss out, get it ASAP! Caught the show in Orlando back in '19. Absolutely amazing!

  • Broadway Gem Worth Seeing

    5 out of 5 stars
    Bruce GomesMay 18, 2025United States🇺🇸

I'm joining the chorus of praise for this pressing; it's absolutely fantastic. Having seen the show on Broadway, I was really hoping the recording would live up to it, and it definitely did. If you missed the initial run, the show was set to return in the Fall/Winter of 2020. It's unclear if or when that will happen now, but if it does and you get the chance to go, I strongly recommend it.

  • Live LP Impressive Sound Quality

    5 out of 5 stars
    Shirley MarchettiDecember 16, 2024United States🇺🇸

Wow, what a amazing release! The audio quality is top-notch on this double Live LP. The vinyl is perfectly flat, heavyweight, and super quiet. It's exactly what you'd anticipate from Nonesuch Records. Just to be clear, though. If you're hoping for the sound quality to match that of the Stop Making Sense LP, you'll be disappointed. That being said, the mix captures what you'd hear live at the concert, and it's dynamic and well-balanced. The bass and guitar really stand out, and David's vocals are as clear as day and as eerie as always. I highly suggest grabbing this one if you're unsure.

Product description

This 2LP set is housed in a gatefold.

David Byrne's "American Utopia" is a captivating blend of art rock and art pop, released on December 11, 2018, under the Nonesuch label. This eighth studio album from the Scottish-American musician is a testament to Byrne's unique vision and his ability to blend various musical influences into a cohesive and engaging whole. The album's ten tracks, including standout songs like "I Dance Like This," "Gasoline and Dirty Sheets," and "Everybody's Coming to My House," showcase Byrne's signature style and lyrical depth.

"American Utopia" is not just a studio album; it's also a live experience captured during a performance at the Kings Theatre in September 2018. The live tracks, including renditions of "I Zimbra," "Every Day Is a Miracle," and "This Must Be the Place (Naïve Melody)," offer a dynamic and energetic counterpart to the studio recordings. The album's duration of one hour ensures a comprehensive journey through Byrne's musical landscape.

Byrne's 2018 solo album release reflects his ongoing exploration of themes that resonate with a wide audience. The album fits seamlessly with his vision for his series "Reasons To Be Cheerful," named after the iconic song by Ian Dury. "American Utopia" is a celebration of music, creativity, and the human experience, making it a standout addition to David Byrne's discography.
