not exactly a jazz expert but based on my initial listen, this is fantastic. it's full of constant energy and passion from every musician on every song. i'm not one to stick to the rules when it comes to jazz or any music genre, so i enjoy it for what it is and it's as fresh and current as anything i'm hearing today. pretty cool that it was recorded in 1970 but not released until 1974 -- quite a gap considering the evolution of jazz during those years. thrilled to have it to enjoy in 2025.

This album is quite a mixed bag for me. There are some standout tracks, like "Malika", but towards the end ("Fulfillment") it starts to lose its way. It's definitely worth a listen, but I wouldn't expect to play it on repeat.
Fantastic album. Incredible pressing. Crisp and rich. Why is this still a hidden gem in Tyner's catalog?
