Haven't had the chance to listen to the UK original, so I can't do a comparison. I stumbled upon this German pressing by pure luck (found it at a flea market) and hit the jackpot: it plays perfectly and the sound quality is fantastic. It's well-balanced, warm yet crisp, with a great bass. So, even with the ugly sticker on the cover, it's become one of my top albums to spin.
The sound quality is absolutely fantastic. It's one of those instances where even brand new vinyl needs a clean every now and then, which is a bit annoying. I initially felt that "Single-Handed Sailor" had a bit too much bass, but I got used to it and ended up enjoying it. Honestly, I don't want to sound too enthusiastic, but I was genuinely impressed by how much better this sounds on vinyl compared to all the times I've listened to it on CD or high-resolution streaming. I've only ever owned Dire Straits albums on CD before. The bass is consistently strong throughout, and only a tad heavy on that one song I mentioned earlier.
The sound quality is amazing! This is a fantastic pressing with no noise at all. Make sure to look for a Near Mint copy. You'll love it.

When you stack it up against the Because Sound Matters pressing, this one's got a tad more depth and width in the soundstage, a touch more clarity and detail, but the tonality? Not quite right! The treble's a bit too bright and harsh, even a bit sibilant at times. The vinyl's flat and quiet, but the sound's only a 7/10 for me... I ended up sticking with the Because Sound Matters release, it's more natural and just feels right to me. I even sold my MOFI 45RPM... Vertere DG-1, Nagaoka MP-500, Vertere Phono-1 MkII L, Naim Uniti Nova, Sonner Allegro Unum.
