Turn this up loud—yeah, some claim it ain’t as powerful as the old Dio vinyls, but the audio’s crisp and Ronnie’s vocals are straight-up rock nirvana. This record demands to be played blasted. Dio’s voice never dies—still sends chills through the cosmos. Rest in power, Ronnie!

Les basses ont été boostées, donc ça sonne plus riche, mais un peu brouillon. La pochette est sympa et nette. Pas de pochette en poly, juste une sleeve en papier qui reproduit l'original. Le vinyle est plat et joli, marbré bleu. À recommander si t'as pas cet album dans ta collection. Peut-être qu'un jour ils feront une version Rhino Reserve ? J'espère, parce que j'adore cet album.

This is a realy quiet and nicely pressed heavyweight at 180g. The packaging and everything else about the production is top-notch. When I compared the sound to my 2013 Deluxe edition digital rip—which is the master I prefer right now—I tried to match Dio's vocal volume. This vinyl is super clear with some solid bass. It's obvious they used the same master as Universal, which is great. My digital copy might have had a slightly wider soundstage and smoother tones, and when matching Dio's vocals, the CD version’s drum and bass impact felt about 2% better. But honestly, that’s probably just down to my imperfect volume matching by ear, my DAC versus phono setup, and I’d expect my digital side to handle bass better given what I spent on it. Some of the differences might also be track volume as things get closer to the inner grooves. Surprisingly, the inner groove distortion is almost nonexistent, though. When I flipped to side B, I switched from my neutral loading plugs to my ‘warm’ ones, and any smoothness or bass differences just disappeared. The galloping bass line in Faces in the Window sounded tight and punchy on both, for example. All in all, this is a fantastic pressing, and if I were buying blind, I’d grab this one again. About the QC comments floating around, there’s some light crackle between tracks and in that quiet intro to Sunset Superman, but I didn’t do any special cleaning—just a brush and probably wiped it down a couple years ago with some multi-surface cleaner and a microfiber cloth. Nothing during the songs, and if there was a tiny blip, maybe an ultrasonic clean would fix it. Should mention there was zero crackle even at the end of Side B when the volume faded out, so any noise issues aren’t constant. This is basically a flawless pressing otherwise.
Excellent remaster—this is my go-to digital version without a doubt. If you're using Qobuz, I’d strongly recomend this one.
