  • Yes-Inspired Refreshing Surprise

    5 out of 5 stars
    Raquel LongNovember 30, 2025United States🇺🇸

Quelle bonne surprise, les chansons me font penser au Yes des débuts. Le nouveau line-up est rafraîchissant et Steve Howe est un producteur inspiré et toujours surprenant à la guitare. Bonne prise de son.

  • Solid Yes Tribute Album

    4 out of 5 stars
    Sander OlssonMay 15, 2025United States🇺🇸

Package looks great, sound quality is top-notch. There's a bit of odd surface noise between songs...but it's not noticeable while the tracks are playing. Comes with poly lined inners. **No autographed postcard from Steve Howe.** I genuinely enjoy this album. Regardless of what others think about 'tribute band' labels... it sounds like Yes... and the music is solid. I'd recommend it, for what it's worth!

  • Average, Soft, Guitar-Heavy Album

    3 out of 5 stars
    Sandra StevensNovember 3, 2024United States🇺🇸

This album isn't quite doing it for me. It reminds me of Yes, but it's all very laid-back, too guitar-heavy, with loads of acoustic guitar (I'm not a huge Steve fan, his acoustic playing in particular). I do appreciate how Billy captures that 'Chris bass' vibe. There are moments that give me Drama vibes, which I enjoy. But it's too soft, rarely gets truly rocking. The standout parts are by Geoff Downes and Billy Sherwood, the drumming is steady. I'd call it average.

  • Modern Yes Captures Classic Essence

    4 out of 5 stars
    Peter WelchJuly 25, 2024United States🇺🇸

This album is a delightful offering that brings the spirit of classic Yes into the 2020s. Jon Davison, while not quite the Anderson, brings a complete package as a singer and lyricist. Billy Sherwood steps into Chris Squire's shoes admirably, delivering a powerful and skilled bass performance, along with strong backing vocals and a robust writing style. Geoff Downes may not be the most technically impressive keyboardist in Yes' history, but he can certainly capture a wide range of styles and sounds. Jay Schellen, as Alan White's chosen successor, struggles to leave his own mark, missing the jazzy touches of his predecessors. Steve Howe, now near octogenarian, remains unmistakably himself, relying more on his extensive experience and refined taste than on speed and technical prowess. Creating a spiritual, science fiction-themed album works well here. It complements Schellen's efficient yet somewhat heavy style, Downes' and Howe's atmospheric qualities, and the abstract nature of Davison's lyrics. It's a plus that Davison has softened his choir boy delivery and added a touch of grit to his voice, and Sherwood is clearly enjoying his Squire-like role on this album. In summary, the album's strength lies in its consistency and the band's ability to channel the essence of classic Yes while adding a modern twist. It's quite an achievement, even if it's evident that they can't quite match the performance levels of their legendary predecessors. The record is a visual treat, with excellent dynamic range and a beautiful, almost holographic sound field. For Yes and prog lovers who appreciate a highly skilled rendition of what the classic lineup might have done today, this album is a hidden treasure.

Mirror To The Sky could easily turn into a classic Yes track, much like Awaken.
