Whether a review is positive, negative, or neutral, we always publish it. However, we screen every review to ensure it is authentic and free of profanity. These checks happen automatically, though a human occasionally steps in. We never pay for reviews.

What no review !?!I have copy 478/2000 bought on first day of release. Obviously a digital source was used but an absolutely superb sound on my Rega 7. Superb stuff. The whole package with those very very creepy cabbage headed screaming people in the wood, gives me the willies ?!?!? Don't misconstrue that phrase! The very last studio release just as PT were about to become a massive musical presence on the worldwide rock scene, they even played at Donnington for God's sake, playing most of their heavier songs. Why did SW break up the band, ( ziggy played guitar ?!?!) I cannot ever fathom why ? But I suspect his manager Mr Leaf had a lot of influence at the time. I recall some interviews in Carbon Nation from 2009 that would confirm that. Why couldn't SW have run his solo career along side PT or was it about not sharing out the money? I dunno. Doubt that anyone of us on the outside will ever know. But after the genuinely bad sounding Future Bites debacle where many of his long standing supporters left the ship in droves, me included, we have had the announcement of the revived PT, but no Colin Edwin, why, where is Colin?Anyway, this album in this format is simply a superb example of modern progressive rock music. This is not a retread of Yes or Genesis but new music , sure you'll hear the influence of a certain Mr D. Gilmour on the solo of Time Flies. Similar to the end solo on a certain song on Animals, no ??? Yes !Sorry my version is not for sale. I am very pleased to own nearly all SW/PT and his associated projects on vinyl lps having become a fan way back in 1993, I think ??? It was whenever Voyage 34 came out, it sounded so much like Floyd and that muted riff from On The Run, you know what I mean. On Sunday of Life is interesting in a psychedelic manner but not really prog. An exercise in psych homage, but much better was soon to follow.A great band to start following but potential collectors be aware, it could cost you a fortune once you catch the bug. I know from personal experience. And I was buying first time round !!! God knows what today's prices are like, scary I guess.

Product description

This 2023 Limited Edition Reissue 2LP set is pressed on Clear vinyl.

Porcupine Tree’s The Incident is a sprawling, genre-defying masterpiece that blends progressive rock, metal, art rock, and space rock into a rich, immersive listening experience. Released in September 2009, the album unfolds over a brisk 75 minutes, taking listeners on a journey through 19 meticulously crafted tracks—each a study in atmosphere, precision, and emotional depth.

At its core, The Incident is a concept album that weaves together themes of modernity, isolation, and existential reflection. Steven Wilson’s signature songwriting shines here, balancing intricate musicianship with melodic hooks that linger long after the final note. Tracks like "Occam’s Razor" and "The Blind House" showcase the band’s ability to blend hypnotic grooves with soaring prog flourishes, while "Kneel and Disconnect" and "The Incident" explore darker, more urgent territory.

The album’s centerpiece, the 23-minute epic "The Incident," is a sprawling odyssey that divides into two acts, offering a cinematic sweep of shifting dynamics and textures. Meanwhile, shorter cuts like "Black Dahlia" and "Bonnie the Cat" reveal Porcupine Tree’s knack for crafting vivid, almost cinematic snapshots in under five minutes.

With The Incident, the band solidifies their reputation as pioneers of modern progressive music, delivering a work that’s as intellectually stimulating as it is sonically rewarding. It’s an album that demands—and rewards—close attention, leaving a lasting impression with every listen.
