  • 70s Vinyl Reissue Brilliance

    5 out of 5 stars
    Christine FriedrichOctober 23, 2025United States🇺🇸

I wholeheartedly concur with the other reviews – snapped it up during the iMusic sale for just €20.49. Had low expectations, but that gorgeous cover made me determined to get a pristine copy. Stunning, true-to-life audio quality! Super dry and clear, with remarkable accuracy throughout the highs, mids, and lows. This is precisely how a 70s vinyl reissue ought to sound – a brilliant showcase of repress Vinyl masterin'.

  • Hancock's Jazz-Funk Masterpiece

    5 out of 5 stars
    Jonathan MartinezOctober 16, 2025United States🇺🇸

Hancock delivers his best, with funky keyboards and a fantastic group backing him up. You can't go wrong grabbing a Near Mint/Mint copy of this often overlooked jazz-funk/fusion gem, featuring four tracks of pure genius! Music:5.0 Mastering/pressing:5.0 Cover/s:4.0 The outer sleeve is pretty good quality, my copy came with an aftermarket anti-static inner sleeve. Equipment used for this review: Rega P3 with RB880 tonearm, Denon DL110 HOMC cartridge, Delrin platter, Rega Neo, Isoacoustic Orea bronze feet (x3). Phono stage: West Audio TWO.2 class A dual mono fully balanced, 50db/47k ohms, HOMC setting

  • Album Lacks Openness

    3 out of 5 stars
    Janet MeierSeptember 20, 2025United States🇺🇸

The album's fantastic, but the recording (or perhaps the mastering) isn't quite right. To put it simply: it's missing some air / openness.

  • Vinyl Funk Delight

    5 out of 5 stars
    Milo ThompsonJuly 14, 2025United States🇺🇸

Snagged a $5 deal on this amazing album. Had it on CD for ages, but I can't stop playing the vinyl since I got it. The bass, electric piano, and synths sound so real and full of life, and the music is insanely funky. I might even like this one more than the super famous Head Hunters. You gotta have this!

  • Herbie Hancock's Funky Fusion Gem

    5 out of 5 stars
    Adrian RamirezJuly 13, 2025United States🇺🇸

Herbie Hancock's "Thrust" is a classic example of the funky jazz fusion sound that defined the 70s, featuring electric keyboards alongside both electric and acoustic instruments. It might not be one of Herbie's most famous albums, but it's packed with all the signature funk elements he was known for in that decade, especially those groovy basslines. Now, I'm not entirely sure if it's just my copy, but the high frequencies on my pressing seem a bit subdued compared to my other jazz records. I can tweak this a bit by adjusting the ohms on my cartridge to 68k, though. Anyway, I'd recommend this LP to any Herbie Hancock fans, 70s jazz funk enthusiasts, or audiophiles looking for some funk. Music: 5 stars, Pressing: 4.5 stars (my copy is flat but the highs are a bit questionable). It's not his absolute best work, but it's still a solid four-star album. **** Edit: After upgrading my phono stage and doing some turntable tweaks, this album is now a five-star item! The sound quality is spot-on, so no more concerns about the highs!
